How we used clever processes to give a company's experts the freedom to do their job as experts again - free from any ballast and overhead.
1. starting position
- The customer’s department has the task of examining the quality of its own company’s products: to do this, it records measurement data (csv), prepares it using defined algorithms (Excel), categorizes the data (Excel) and finally evaluates it in a report (Excel, PowerPoint) – all on a file basis.
- The customer started > 10 years ago with one measuring instrument and one expert; now there are five devices that deliver results using different procedures, which are processed by more than 10 experts: all using the original method.
- The increasing complexity of the task due to the growth of the department is reinforced by the processing method used: multiple data storage on a file basis (Excel, PowerPoint), numerous and versionless variants of evaluation algorithms in different files (Excel), individually sophisticated but complex preparation of standardizable diagrams (Excel).
- The experts, who are supposed to use their expertise in the evaluation of the measurement results, were busy coping with the overhead.
