Aim of the Terra.X project
Terra.X is the new generation of high-field magnetic resonance tomographs with powerful 7-Tesla magnets and an important milestone in the development of new areas of application for radiation-free examinations. Thanks to their ultra-fine image resolution, these devices enable powerful measurement applications in the field of neurological diseases and injuries to the musculoskeletal system. They can also be used to visualize metabolic processes and draw conclusions about complex disease patterns. A wide range of possible applications and powerful, high-quality imaging set the tone, both in everyday clinical practice and in research applications.
ASTRUM IT – Participation in Terra.X
For several years, various colleagues have been involved in a project position for software development and a project position for quality assurance of the Terra.X system. They actively support the development of new functionalities, the processing of system errors and the verification of hardware and software functions.
Compared to the very standardized systems with lower field strength, even the clinical series configurations of Terra.X are rather special cases. In addition, there are special configurations (one-of-a-kind systems) for individual research groups, some with 9.4 or 11.7 Tesla. Nevertheless, an important aspect for the software of these scanners was not to create isolated solutions, but to support them as part of the current development platform. These devices also benefit from the diligent work of all ASTRUM IT colleagues at MR on Numaris/X.
